After serving for approximately 6.5 years, he moved to ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science (IISS), Bhopal as a Senior Scientist. Subsequently, from 2017 to 2022, he served as the Head of the Agribusiness Management Division at ICAR-NAARM for 6 years. Currently, he holds the position of Principal Scientist in the same division at the Academy.

Dr. H.S. Jat is the Director of ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research (IIMR), Ludhiana, with an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Agronomy from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. He has made significant contributions to developing and promoting Conservation Agriculture (CA) techniques for maize, rice, and wheat systems, enhancing food production with fewer inputs while improving agroecological resilience.
